Vegan energy bars with dates and super seeds: delicious snacking

Granola and energy bars are great snacks to keep around the house, car, backpack, and purse. Are you hungry, hungry or lacking in energy? Take a bar packed with goodness and nutrients to get you through the rest of the day.

Not so fast.

Not all granola bars, snacks and energy bars are created the same. In fact, most store bought bars provide low nutrients and a lot of sugar, artificial ingredients, refined oils, and other ingredients that are not conducive to health and wellness.

Step into these simple, homemade energy bars with dates and super seeds. Not only do they contain simple staples (dates, cocoa powder, nuts, and seeds), they’re made from whole foods and can be changed to suit a variety of diets – or what you’re under. the hand.

Throw all the ingredients into a food processor, mix, press the mixture into a baking sheet, freeze and cut. Instant energy bars and homemade delicacies.

The basis of these energy bars are medjool dates, sunflower seeds and cashews. If nut allergies are a problem, just use all of the sunflower seeds and omit the cashews. Using tahini as a binder, as opposed to peanut butter or almond butter, also keeps these bars nut-free. Of course, swap with another nut butter (I told you these bars are super customizable!) If you like.

The other ingredients in these bars include (all) the seeds. Hemp seeds and chia seeds provide essential fatty acids, protein and nutrients as well as a unique crunch and texture to bars. Feel free to add or swap these seeds for sesame seeds or pumpkin seeds if you wish.

Coconut flakes and unrefined organic coconut oil add a sweet tropical flavor along with a boost of healthy monounsaturated fats. Cocoa powder gives these bars a delicious chocolate flavor as well as a variety of vitamins and minerals, including zinc and magnesium.

Other delicious and complete food ingredients to incorporate include raisins, golden berries, dried blueberries or cranberries, almonds, pecans, walnuts, coconut butter or cocoa nibs.

These energy bars keep in the refrigerator for three weeks and in the freezer for three months. Bars are the perfect snack for all ages (kids are addicted!) Have fun!
