Where to Find Rare Seeds in Stardew Valley

Those looking to track down the rare seed don’t need to search JojaMart or Pierre’s General Store, as none of these stores carry this seed. Instead, players must check in at the Travel Cart in the Cindersap Forest on Fridays and Sundays to find this seed. The best time of year to do this is in the spring or summer when the Traveling Cart stores between 1 and 5. In the Fall and Winter the Traveling Cart also has a small chance of storing this important seed, but there is less than a 2% chance of finding them.

Purchasing Rare Seeds from the Traveling Cart (between 600 and 1,000 gold) is the most profitable way to grow the Sweet Gem Berry, which has a base value of 3,000 gold. As an alternative, players can place Sweet Gem Berries in a Seed Maker to create more Rare Seeds, but the profit margin can drop significantly. Players should stick to place only lower quality berries in a Seed Maker to maintain a strong return on investment.

How to Grow Rare Seeds in Stardew Valley

The rare seed description is a bit misleading in that it claims it requires an entire season to grow. In reality, even if the player does not have the Agronomist profession or uses any fertilizer, the Rare Seed takes 24 days to develop. With either or both Speed-Gro or Farmer Fertilizer bonuses, players can reduce this length even further. To grow the rare seed, players only need to plant it like any other crop and keep it watered daily.

Rare seeds must be sown in the fall and are one of the most profitable crops in the entire game. For this reason, players must unlock the greenhouse in their Stardew Valley playthrough in order to get the most out of these cultures. To do this, players can purchase the Greenhouse option from JojaMart’s community development form for 35,000 gold, or complete all pantry bundles in the community center.

Stardew Valley is available on Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS Vita and Xbox One.
